Swissôtel Nankai Osaka - Luxury hotel - Swissôtel Nankai Osaka Eliminates Single-Use Plastics

Swissôtel Nankai Osaka Eliminates Single-Use Plastics

As part of Accor, the hotel joins in the group’s commitment under the UN Global Tourism Plastics Initiative to remove all single-use plastic items in guest experience.

Single-use plastics are defined as disposable items that are only used once and then discarded.

At our hotel, we have switched from plastic straws to biodegradable and compostable PLA grade straw. The perfect alternative to plastic and paper straws, our straws are made of material derived from corn in line with the European 12432 and America ASTM D6400 standard. These are safe, healthy, food grade straws which can be used for both hot and cold drinks. They’re also environment-friendly, 100% completely biodegradable under the situation of compost.

The hotel has also removed plastic water bottles and have shifted to glass bottles, which are cleaned, refilled and reused by our suppliers.

Guest room amenities have also been shifted, making use of eco-friendly materials.

The hotel strives to continuously find ways to ensure sustainable operations, for the good of the planet.
